Look where we are now - the beatuiful country called New Zealand! 😃 Are you guys ready to get to know it?

Aotearoa, as the Maori people call it, is located in the southwestern Pacific Ocean and consists of 2 main landmasses, north and south island with 600 smaller islands. It was settled between 1280 and 1350 by the Maori people. The year of 1947 was an importan one for people of New Zealand because in that year they gained their independance and started the progress to become one of the countries with the best standard in the world.

In 1893, New Zealand became the first country to give women the right to vote, showing the world that we are all the same! Besides the human rights achievements, this country gave us a scientist that managed to spilt an atom in 1919, his name was Baron Ernest Rutherford.

New Zealanders are well known for their passion for sports! 🏉 Rugby remains the most popular spectator sport in New Zealand, but golf is the most popular participation sport, with more golf courses in New Zealand per capita of population, than any other country in the world. ⛳ While we are at rugby, New Zealand won the first ever Rugby World Cup, held in 1987. And one more thing to add, they won more Olympic gold medals per capita, than any other country.

You know those wonderfull hills and mountains that The Fellowship of the Ring had to cross runing from Orcs? Well, all of that was filmed in New Zealand! While we are at mountains, I would suggest you guys to visit Lake Matheson - the view of the mountains is magnificent. Nelson Lakes National Park should be on your next to-do list too. I wont say anything about it, you got to see it to belive it! :)
