gambling is a choice or compulsion

Recommended Posts

many people play gambling all over the world ... be it direct gambling (gambling in the real world) or online gambling ... various human criteria mix into one in the world of gambling ... from the lower, middle to upper classes. ... from students to company directors, from good people to bad people ... everything is there ...

I sometimes think of seeing those from poor families or from good people who join in gambling ... are they aware of what they are doing? did they enter the world of gambling of their own volition or by force? I say that because they should not be in the world of gambling ... given their mediocre financial position or those of middle or rich economy but from the criteria of good people why can they fall into gambling? did they participate in bets due to compulsion ???

economic pressure is increasingly difficult to make them forced to try their fortune in the world of gambling by borrowing money from several related installations .... or those from good and rich families have had enough of their boring lives?

I think this all happened because they themselves chose gambling as a place to make a few dollars if they were lucky in betting for those who are poor economically ... or for those who are fine in life and have wealth but do not find enjoyment in life in essence ... so they chose to play gambling ... it seems gambling is indeed an option .. not compulsion ... but many don't realize it ...

how about you friend? ...

I suppose it depends on the person and the situation.  For me personally it is a choice, but I know a few that it is a compulsion.  But I do not know anyone that has been "forced" to gamble.  For some it can be a compulsion or addiction just like anything else.  I choose to gamble because it's fun and I enjoy it, but I have an uncle that is an addict and has a compulsion for gambling...

i think it is a personal choice, for me it was my choice to gamble and nobody ever forced me to ! at first i wanted to have some fun when i first knew bitcoin, it was only for fun and to test the online casino games. after a while i was falling deeper in my greed and running behind recovery everytime i lose and it all ended up with addiction, so yeah i consider myself as a gambling addicted, and it was no one's fault but mine. if i have to blame someone for my bad decisions so its me, it was my choice to be a gambler after all.

I think it almost always starts as a choice, but can quickly turn into an addiction if we are not careful.  Gambling is a lot of fun, but if we lose a lot we almost always feel the need to recover however we can.  I believe this is the point where it can easily turn into addiction if we are always chasing losses from near the beginning.

i guess i can agree with you on that... the start can very well be a choice as if its the first time someone is doing it, i am assuming it actually has to be a choice, however very soon can turn into an addction or compulsion like after even the very first time! but idk in reality th science behind it too well. ᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎᠎😑

I am not sure of the science behind it either, but I would think you would have to choose to start gambling.  If you win big or lose big right off the bat, it can quickly turn into an addiction whether that big win hooks you or the big loss makes you keep trying to recover it.

Gambling is fun ...
I'm sorry about your uncle who is addicted to playing gambling ... even in the situation of not having money, he will definitely play gambling even if he has to borrow some money to play gambling ... being forced to play gambling is not good for someone ... :(

It all depends if the guy is addicted or not, if he is it's a compulsion, if he is not, it is a choice that we make by coming here and to all of the other casinos that there are and we play.

Sometime it is not a choice and you want to earn back your money what you have lost, but usually the result is more losing and then it turns to an addiction, which is pretty damn sad, but we can't change it.

Kind regards,

slfj.

yeah ... pretty brilliant thinking ... friend ..
Gambling is basically someone's choice ... be it because you want to find wealth, try to find a little luck, or just have fun even if you have to experience a lot of losses ...

if you really have to be addicted to gambling, you can't avoid it. If you really have to blame because you have suffered many defeats that cause depression, mental and economic stress, or even experience a big win, it all starts with yourself, and it is worth blame. yourself too ...

if anyone plays gambling and loses even bankruptcy in his life and he blames others then it is a crazy person ... people who cannot accept reality, people who usually run away from their own mistakes and blame others .. people like this do not will never be calm and peaceful in living his life ...

quite confusing ... if gambling is not forced, it means gambling is indeed an option ... in my opinion ..

if if gambling is not due to compulsion and also not by choice, do you think people play gambling for what? even according to some opinions say people who play gambling just for fun .. losing or winning is not a problem, the important thing is he is happy .. it is also a choice ... basically all that happens in the gambling world in my opinion is only 2 factors .. if not because you are forced to, someone himself who chose to play gambling ..

maybe there is a little advice or anything for you to say if I'm wrong in predicting about people who play gambling then say it below .. then I will really appreciate your advice friends .. we just exchange ideas and opinions ... :)

I mean in my last statement, if possible, gambling should not be used as an option, if you can find the best option for making money other than playing gambling. I mean like that

I think that no one can force anyone to play gambling. Gambling is a choice that a person makes for himself and he is responsible for his choice. After all, no one forces you to play by force.

Agree with your comments. I also think that gambling addiction is a very dangerous thing. We should only gamble for entertainment after a stressful working day

I think it's all because he's there to gamble to make money or to entertain but instead he plays the winning game, he will still lose money. But in fact, he is increasingly losing, then he plays as a daily routine in life and then he becomes a silver addict .... no one forces anyone to gamble all over. after the fun is always tiring and gambling sometimes it is not just for money but you can bet your life on the game .......

It is a choice, due to an urge- either you want to have fun (good) or you want to win (bad). If you have other ulterior motives from winning, which is already bad at the first place (since no one must be thinking of winning against a game that has the odds stacking against your favor) then that is the only time things become compulsive which eventually leads to a destructive psychological state.

He actually passed away not long ago, and when he did he owed just about everyone he knew something.  I have seen first hand what the addiction and borrowing money can do to someone.  It is not pretty.

yeah I totally agree there's always an underlying factor that makes people gamble it is very very rarely just for money.

It ca be a very dangerous road indeed, just like any other addiction.  We have to be very careful because there is a fine line between being a gambler and having a gambling problem.

in my opinion it is an unconscious compulsion, .. they come here just to try, and then they lose the bet ... then they come back and try to get back their lost money, but usually the more they lose their money for losing the bet, and eventually become addicted ... if read carefully and correctly understood the sentence above, it means this is a compulsion in gambling and continuing to revenge .. because of losing and ending up addicted ....

in gambling it cannot be forced by anyone, playing gambling is indeed an option .. gambling is a will of its own ..
there are some who are initially forced to play gambling, but not because there are other people who force themselves to play gambling, but because of circumstances that force someone to play gambling, especially its difficult economic factors ...

For me gambling is a addiction ive recovered from and now a coping mechanism that impacts my life in varying degrees. I know when i first started gambling the time was awfully dreadful because it didnt matter win or lose. I enjoyed watching my monies disappear  beneath tables as much as i did watching is replace the empty space in front of me. And it took a some serious self reflection and forward thinking to rein my self in and control the urge to self destruct.

Now its a healthy escape that can cost me a lot or a little depending on the state i find myself in at the time. Is gambling a good idea? No i don't think it ever is. Is it wrong? No i wouldn't say so. We have to learn how to manage our impulses to act stupidly. There are people who can and people who cant. But there are also people who eat feces uncontrollably....and that's a much much more socially frowned upon thing to come to terms with.

So gambling for me is a impulse i choose to acknowledge....YEA!

I think that's how it should be ... but many admit that they are gambling because they are forced to ... they are gambling because of the increasingly difficult economic pressures from year to year, they are trying to take shortcuts to profit from gambling ... hoping to find victory at the gambling table ...

although so, many also risk their lives in gambling ... this is as you say ... and this in my opinion is done not because of fun .. but obviously because of compulsion .. which fools are risking their lives only because of gambling except because forced to do ... 😰😰

At least you are able to acknowledge it.  Too many people say they are not addicted, yet they obviously are.

I like to think i know myself pretty well. I don't find it beneficial to lie or mislead myself in any way. Whats the point in doing such a thing?

if basically, everything starts with a positive mindset, it seems like defeat is not so bad for someone .. including the gambler's psychology ..
many people bet not for money ... and that I can see for myself ... they are just having fun ... it is proven that even when they win, they are handing out their money to the poor and homeless children ... even if look at their statistics, is still in a minus state with a relatively large amount

I totally see gambling as a choice it isn't a compulsion. If your economically not good you can many things for passive earnings. But if you are in that situation i strongly not suggest to involve in gambling gamble that much which you can afford to loose or extra bucks. SO gamble responsibly.
