MateuszHDHR1 160 #1 Posted August 11, 2019 Version 0.18.1 includes limitations and innovations related to improving performance and eliminating minor errors. It was mostly a fix for a 0.18.0 version which came up on May this year, which introduced native support for hardware wallets such as Ledger and Trezor. Everything you might wanna know is here: https://bitcoin.org/en/release/v0.18.1 Do you use a Bitcoin Core wallet yourself? The size of it is huge as it cointains every transcation and stuff so I don't think many people uses it, although I am

Eminx3 127 #3 Posted August 11, 2019 No i dont use this wallet, i honestly just use phone apps and stuff like that for wallets. What would you say is the advantage of using such a heavy wallet for the average user who has not a lot if any coin?
@zulfandina 211 #4 Posted August 11, 2019 I personally do not like to have a variety of wallets, because I only have a little coin to be stored in my wallet .. after all this wallet is very heavy, indeed when viewed whatever is in the wallet is quite riveting .. completeness of transaction data and high security version, it is very tempting .. but ... maybe someday I will use this wallet if I already have more than 10 bitcoin and 100 ethereum ... The best thing is that helps alot with the privacy, so it's harder link your transactions with you. Basically u can read all of the advantages here: https://bitcoin.org/en/bitcoin-core/features/ Now when it's also works with hardwallets I think it should be a option thing to consider if u have good internet and alot of free space to put that on your computer

Angela 18 #7 Posted August 12, 2019 No I don't, nor I even store them digitally. I have learned after reading a lot of news about wallet breaches even by those companies with big names mean my money isn't safe with it. I usually encash it immediately whenever I get coins. I don't want to wake up one day seeing of my hard-earned money gone with the wind just because someone was able to "hack the system" despite your security efforts. The only real security that has you in full control is when your money is tangible.

This has been a long concern among the crypto community because in case a hack happens then it is possible that the site private keys will get stolen and your funds too. Desktop wallets like Electrum are lightweight, dont need to download the entire blockchain and allow you to have full control over private keys. Hence they are better. There are options for android too. 1 JohnTravel reacted to this

Don't assume that you're in risk, but a little bit of paranoia is no bad either. 1 Tom moli reacted to this

Currently the last major scamming attack has been patched where a message was being shown to install a malware electrum version.

williamsh 365 #15 Posted December 20, 2019 I know a lot of people who use bitcoin core as their wallet, but I personally have never tried it. I prefer the current wallet which I have now, which works for a lot of other coins too.

As far as I know, and I stand to be corrected, bitcoin is the cryptocurrency, while bitcoin core is merely software which acts as a digital wallet to store your bitcoins in. 1 hudost2 reacted to this
