Why do you like poker?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone

I have been playing poker for over 10 years on and off. Some periods I have played a lot and some not so much.

I like poker because it's against other players, and of course because you can win money from it.

I remember when I was a child I saw poker in the television and the winners of big tournaments won many millions.

I think that's what got me hooked in the first place. Why do you guys like poker or why do you not if you don't?

I look forward to get some answers.

Best regards

Jacob

Hey !

I have been playing poker for 5 years. An english teacher in my college taught us the game.

I play it for fun with friends and sometimes to earn some pocket money.

Why poker ? I've always liked to play card games as a child.

I was first interested in pure maths and probabilities with this game and then discovered that you can be paid by playing it.

We all are attracted by money, us gamblers.

But it's not only that, it's pure adrenanlin when you go all in.

It's not only numbers, it's psychology ! You have to read your opponent.

These are all the reasons I like poker. Maths, emotions and money !

Same here. I have never won big prizes but played some tournaments.

I should have won something like 150€ in my biggest one.

Winning small will be big if you add them 🙃

I like it because it's easy to understand the games and other games I have experienced on gambling sites and it's pretty easy to win games too.

What the actual meaning did you had on that statement lulz...

First it is only one game and not "the games". I guess you mean it is easier from other games you have experienced?

Also it is not so easy to "win" something if you did not had a learning curve, it is not like dice game where u roll over or under and that's it...

Because it is the best card game and cash)

What you mean by cash? You mean it is the most profitable game? Or easier to use it as a bet in a gambling game?

Winning other players makes me feel excited. We can increase the bet level through each round, and this makes the game more interesting. Fear helps you earn more if you turn it into a trap.

I have been one of the kind of everything you just stated. I have been feeling winning against top oponents with pure luck or bluffing on them.

Increasing the bet amount makes you feel the need to win 100% as you were about to lose or win according which such stake.

On the other hand the fear type you mention it can also be called as bluffing vs your oponents.

Because it's skill more than luck unlike all other gambling. Also I'm a number nerd so got hooked instantly first time I tried it. Used to multi-table 30-40 (max was 50)  Double or Nothing back when it existed for 3 hours a day, not a whole lot of time to think over your decisions then - just pure math.

I think the main points of attraction is firstly that skill matters, that you win more the better you get,

that its against other players, the social thing, that being said when your hit a loosing streak its rather frustrating.

It happens a lot since pot odds and stuff is more a gut feeling than something i calculate.

poker has been one of the oldest games i ever tested to be honest i love poker, one of the hings i love about poker is that you can win even with a weak hand if you knew how to play it in a right way :)

Not really, the weak hand has a low probability of winning. Everything you do at a poker table conveys information. You can't be all goofy poosy losing or winning money arround just to see if you have a better play with a weak hand.

Not only that but you can also win based on a bluff where even with a weak hand you will come out on top

I have won so many times where i had pair of 2s and was still bluffing all the way till the end and won vs Asses

It was so cool that people were like wtf all the time.

I like poker because it's very fair so I like to play it, and also I feel as a genuine gambler. Because all this time I played gambling only online and never played in the real world.

You say it's very fair but what if in terms on a real life Casino game you get scammed?

Every game can in reality be genuine and you will feel like it's being played over certain rules.

But what if at your online tables there is a hacker with some bot tool that predicts every turn you make?

There are many reasons of why poker is a good/famous type of gambling game. First of all, unlike most of the traditionals casino games where you are playing by yourself, this is perfect for a mult table type of gameplay, which in truth adds more variables. Watch people playing poker at a ''high level'' looks cool, but the truth is that isnt more deep than watching any streamer playing high stakes type of tournaments online.

I played poker for a chunk of type because of a chance i had, at the same time i tried to get better. I was able to found very educational information and i tried to get better at the craft, the truth is that you can study about poker for 20 years and still need to be able to adapt to the person in front of you, specially in high stakes. Is possible to profit decently enough in poker if you have experience, bankroll and you arent playing on a site where in exchange for your time, deposits and play method you arent getting back enough benefits.

In short, poker is a cool game to watch and play, perhaps one of the most fun ones to play for hobbie, but playing poker to win money and specially in mid and high stakes requires being very good at the craft.
