I have moved the thread to the proper section. Please choose the correct section before starting a new thread.

Back to topic,

There a large number of sites in the mining niche of crypto:

  1. Sites which claim huge returns in short term - most of them are HYIP/MLM scams
  2. Confidence scams and ponzi schemes are also there.
  3. Some "huge profit mining software" - these are malware/viruses to infect your device. Dont fall for these.
  4. Some are doing mining in real time but these often become low profitable with time because mining itself depends on the difficulty and the Hashpower of the network. Its tough to determine which one will be profitable in the future.

Overall mining sites are abundant which come online today and go away tomorrow effectively scamming people. Some people manage to make money from the HYIPs but they are very risky and you will lose more than you make if you are late investor.

I also use it, it's still proven to pay, I've used it almost 3 years and maybe others want to try it too. In Minergate I don't use cloud but use my own device which I have prepared to mine. The results can depend on the device we have. if we have to always open the website, there is a faucet that can be obtained every 14 hours, and you can provide SHA capital for mining cloud contracts for up to 10 years

I do not use any, well... Hust to back in the days when Bitcoin was the only best profitable thing to get from Mining. Now the market is so flooded from them that it's like meh no thanks anymore. I still continue emphasing on it's not worth in mining currently for yourself unless you have those new technologies that mine for you way faster.

Also what i hate for real are the sites that mine on your machine from your own backs. That's why i always use minerBlock extension to prevent such shit companies.

Anyway im not against anyone who mines or does not... It's just my opnion and preference ;)

The only time I would believe a crypto site that actually is a legit mining operation, is when somebody posts proof of a successful withdrawal. Then I will believe that it is not a scam :)

That is no proof at all. A site that is shown to have provided withdrawals in past may shut down in future. In fact most scam cloud mining sites will do this as a tactic to attract people to put their money in. They run using a HYIP/MLM pyramid scheme that is based on paying the new investors with the older investors money. The only way to mine today is to build your own mining rig or invest in a mining rig with known people as a joint venture.

Cloud mining = scam, always.

Surely there must be 1 legit operation. A comparable example would be binary options. 99% of the online brokers are scams, but there is at least 1 legit one which I use. I honestly don't think every single cloud mining operation is a scam. Even if 99% of them are scams, there must be at least 1 good one out there.

I am yet to find that hypothetical one that would be a legit business. Even genesis mining is a borderline pyramid scheme which gives out money from other sources and not just mining because the profitability dropped a lot with the bear market.

You can literally find every new cloud mining operation listed on badbitcoin.org as a scam site. Again they support genesis and I dont believe that genesis is legit 100%. Maybe to some extent but I would never part with my precious bitcoins to any operation out there.

@UltraChief do you have any site from those Online mining ones that you really think they are worth using?

As if they are not scam, considered as worth using it for mining on the current Bitcoin price and available addresses of course.

I do not know of any such site where mining is done. In fact a site does not mine without rigs. Those rigs are what you would need to mine. Not some software on your browser - those are malware. So the only way to mine without getting ripped off is to buy rigs and develop your own mining farm. Thats one whole lot of investment both from money, property and time. People dont want to do it so they look for the "easy way" - thus falling prey of scammers and malware.

At the current price and difficulty mining is no longer profitable without having very low electricity costs and a large number of miners.

You are talking about mining cryptocurrencies in general and not just bitcoin?

Assuming you're talking about bitcoin mining only, then Ultrachief already answered most. To tell you I have read of btc way way back, if only I understood it back then. A laptop would have given me a substantial amount.

How to spot a scam mining operation?

Do a little research, domain hidden, registered in somewhere that would make u presume they are prestige to be located there yet directors/heads are registered as foreign residents. Instead of showing you proof of their equipment/hardware, they would try to evade by bombarding you with promotions etc.etc.etc.

ever heard of "hashocean", this was a paying cloud mining website for like 2 years. And then it got bigger and bigger, and then eventually ran.

If youre talking about mining in general, its a very broad topic to discuss.

Ever heard of burstcoin? This coin can be mined by the use of your free hard drive space to decide mining rights POC(Proof-of-capacity?), instead of the more common POW(proof-of-work) . .

This is from what I can remember and in case you wanted to know more about mining, google/bing are your bestfriends.

I stopped using mining sites, many malicious scripts, they do not only want to mine and use their processor, they want everything, their passwords and all kinds of information that they can to access their wallets, their casino accounts and so on, I think if I go back to using miners I will create a vm, a totally isolated machine with a dedicated ip only for this not for my other projects at risk.

before when i was still a noob on the crypto industry yes but eventually my eyes are open and i know the truth about mining  . i found out that most of them are only scams but im aware that there are still few names that can be consider legit in the mining industry  . on the other hand , mining on a website or browser based mining are less efficient and not really profitable based on my observation  , not to mention the potential risk ( e.g the scams )   . if im going to mine . i will mine using  a dedicated mining  hardware  .
