I'd say that is for the North of Brazil, I suppose (I never heard about it at least)..

But Brazil is such a big country and here is pretty normal for you to find folklore songs in each State..

 

As for the State I live at we have our personal style of songs and dances.. we have our own traditions.. and the song that express it most is this one:

I doubt you will find a "Gaúcho" (person that has born in my State) that will not sing this song and will not put his/her entire soul while singing.. this song is like our second anthem (it is behind only our official anthem of the state of Rio Grande do Sul) and means much more to us than the Brazilian National Anthem itself

What's your contry? Is it Brasil?

yes, Italy and Portugal are close if we refer  to non-European countries,

but getting there by car / camper is not really a walk!

Yeah I am from South of Brazil.. and well, we (brazilians) and you (europeans) have different conceptions of for the "far" and "close" words when it comes to distance lol

I love brazilian culture, when I was a child, we watched  brazilian movies, I loved all of them, Tropicaliente, A Próxima Vítima, Escrava Isaura

These were really famous novels and yeah, they were really good.. but we have many others that are a way better

Yeah it was a long time ago.. try to watch some not too old novels, I am pretty sure you gonna love them (actually we have "A Força do Querer" which is really amazing and talk mostly about women - there is woman that is a compulsive poker gambler, another that is a boss in the most popular trafic center, another that wants to become man and so on... really interesting to watch)
