Xantys got a reaction from MDSci2018 in What is the shape of the Earth?
Hi guys! Back in high school we were all taught the Earth has a spherical shape. It rotates around its axis and around the Sun just like all other planets of the Solar system do. That was an absolute scientific fact with no doubt.
But did you notice a few years back we started to see lots of hype in Internet and especially Youtube around so called ‘Flat Earth Theory’? The followers of the theory claim the Earth map looks like the one on the official UN logo surrounded by ice wall of Antarctic and North Pole located in the middle.
They present a bunch of arguments to prove their theory. Like visibly perfect flat horizon, or why we don’t feel speedy earth rotation, or water surfaces cannot curve by laws of physics etc. Some celebrities and scientists support their ideas too
And they reject pictures and videos of the Earth taken from Space as having fisheye effect on and ‘photoshoped’. They claim conspiracy of NASA and governments who hide the truth from people.
What do you think of this theory? Why the ancient flat earth beliefs revive in the 21’st century? What arguments would you tell ‘flat-earthers’ to prove they are wrong?
Please feel free to share your thoughts and opinions

Xantys got a reaction from samsul123 in Fibo system (2x)
Hi guys. Came across this system on Internet and have been playing Blackjack with it successfully a couple of months. It's quite slow and requires lots of patience. The key is that Fibonacci progression is used until you have two wins in row to make profit and then start over again. However, this is not pure Fibo as your second step requires doubling of the first step (see the example 1 below).
You base session includes 9 steps along the progression until you have 2 wins in row. With loss you make 1 step up until you win, with every win you repeat the same bet (Obviously you don't repeat a winning step 2 when you double your initial bet). If that repeated bet is lost this step cancelled itself and you repeat it again until you have either 2 wins or 2 losses in row (see examples 2 & 3 below).
If the base session is lost you start Recovery 1 session in the same style but with the double size of your original base bet. If Recovery 1 is lost you start Recovery 2 just the same way. After recovering always go back to the original base bet.
If you start with 1 sat and loose all three sessions you loose 994 sats in total. That's your Bankroll.
Example 1. Bet 1 satoshi lost, bet 2 lost, bet 3 lost, bet 5 lost, bet 8 lost, bet 13 lost, bet 21 lost, bet 34 lost, bet 55 won, bet 55 won. End of the round. 87 sats lost in the steps 1 through 8 and 110 sats won in the step 9 making up 23 sats of profit.
Example 2. Bet 1 satoshi lost, bet 2 lost, bet 3 lost, bet 5 lost, bet 8 won, bet 8 lost, bet 8 won, bet 8 won. End of the round for the profit of 5 sats.
Example 3. Bet 1 satoshi lost, bet 2 lost, bet 3 lost, bet 5 lost, bet 8 won, bet 8 lost, bet 8 lost, bet 13 and so on.
Safety Variation 1. After a win, go 1 step down. This reduces your profit but helps you stay more safe. For example, bet 1 satoshi lost, bet 2 lost, bet 3 lost, bet 5 lost, bet 8 lost, bet 13 lost, bet 21 lost, bet 34 lost, bet 55 won, bet 34 won. End of the round. 87 sats lost in the steps 1 through 8 and 89 sats won in the step 9 making up 2 sats of profit.
Safety Variation 2. Pre-roll with zero to increase your chances.
Alwo, you can increase or decrease the number of steps as you wish.
This system is not guarenteed to win but it is a good alternative to Marti. Have good luck and don't hesitate to share your thoughts and opinions.

Xantys got a reaction from Partyboy in A good gambler prone to be a good trader
Gambling and active trading (stocks, currencies etc) have lots of similarities. Both apply similar strategies, money management rules and both require same human qualities like self-discipline, patience, control of fear and greed. But there are some differences as well like entry barriers, technical and fundamental analysis, skills and education requirements.
Trading is generally viewed by society as good and respectable occupation while gambling is something more inferior and even dangerous.
However, in my point of view gambling with it's ease of access is a wonderful practice for a trader and someone capable of successfull gambling is also prone to be a successfull trader. And vice versa.
Do you agree?

Xantys got a reaction from JohnTravel in Bankroll vs Balance
Hello guys. I decided to open up this topic to clarify these two terms. Well, everyone know what their balances are, that's straghtforward. But the trick is that many consider their balance as their bankroll. And when their strategy fails, they lose the whole balance aka bankroll.
But from money management point of view these are completely different things. One professional advise I've seen requires that your bankroll should be set up as 10% of your balance. And if you lose your bankroll, you're still alive with 90% of your balance left to recover and carry on.
I know this is a very slow way to advance, maybe too slow for many. But again, money management requires that you must preserve your capital first and only then take care of profits.
What do you think guys? Do you distinguish between Balance and Bankroll?

Xantys got a reaction from JohnTravel in Best way to wager for VIP
When I play for wager I set win percentage at 98, when red comes I press double twice and move the percentage to 85 and repeat once again if I lose. If lost again I start over. You're not gonna win too much with this setup but you won't lose too much either. This could also be set up in dicebot.

Xantys got a reaction from Cat4Life in Would you like if PD added lottery?
I don't personally like lotteries, but why not? If people get involved and PD gets its fee that seems like a possible addition to a single-game environment. There could be different tiers starting from low price - low payout and ending with high price - huge payout.

Xantys got a reaction from JohnTravel in Are you greedy or have you learned to set a game limit to win?
I fully understand that the concept of limits must be incorporated in my game but I lack self-discipline. When losing I become impulsive and just can't stop until I lose everything. I tried to use limits but I noticed I just ignore them in my actual game. I guess that's what differentiate a professional gambler from an amateur.
I have actually set up a strategy with a limited bet size and have tried it and it worked well. But it's so slow and so boring that I lose patience. I guess I must still learn to be a better player. And the limit aspect of a better gaming is crucial. Thanks for the important topic.
