Tipsidy, That's some significant math you are considering. Several issues need to be considered to have any clue as to a hulls stability. And, to be honest, I haven't the knowledge to solve all of them. However, as water weighs in at about 9 lbs per cubic foot, I would suggest a place to begin. Also the ship must be bottom heavy. It must be deep enough in the water to be stable. It would take a lot of work to calculate the weight of the materials on the ship. It would be easier to calculate the displacement of the ship.

Adams is compatible with Autocad products. I just had an idea. If your design is not too complicated. Meaning, does your ship have active ballast control or is it more of just a static structure? If it is less complex you could build it in Autodesk Inventor, my favorite program of the century. Again though the calculations for stability would probably be held to , will it float or sink.
